The Bottle Project, Part Deux
Jan 20th, 2008 by kitliz
Back when I was an undergrad at Florida State, I started a fun little project affectionately named, “The Bottle Project,” which included sharpie markers, liquor bottles, and a lot of hangovers. Mainly because the rule was the bottle had to be empty before I drew it.
Here is the end result of that project:

(There are actually 3 to this set with 15 bottles that make up a full shelf of liquor, but you get the point.)
When I met MysteryMan and experienced his love of beer, The Bottle Project immediately came to mind… and when I told him I wanted to do one of beer bottles for him (the rule still stands, he has to drink each type of beer before I draw the bottle) we started collecting bottles of beer from around the world. That was a year and a half ago, and just last night I sat down and actually knocked out (not back) some bottles of beer, as it were…
Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, Anchor Porter, and Coopers Brewery Best Extra Stout:
There’s no perfection here. I’m not a xerox machine (or an engineer!), but there will be dozens of these by the time it’s finished, so I don’t believe the little imperfections will be as noticeable in the finished project.
I had done a Whitbread a while back, that is somehow MIA now, but such is life around this house. The monster that lives in my dirty laundry probably ate it.
So yes, this is what I was doing instead of painting the office. What can I say? The Popsicle stick put me over the edge.
Tune back in for more beer tomorrow… but this time in the form of a recipe!

What a fun project! Those would look great framed in a bar or kitchen nook!
Wow, that’s some impressive work.
Looks like you’ve got some art work to go with a wet bar in the basement.
