Brought to you without the use of powertools…

I would like to say my life has just been so crazy and so much fun in the last week that I just could not find the time to post. (Okay, enough of the excessive use of italics.) Frankly it feels like just the opposite. Usually I go through life composing blog posts in my head about whatever I happen to be doing at the time, all which I’m sure you would all find both fascinating and informational. (And luckily for all of us, probably only 2% of those actually make it to the computer screen.) Something must have flipped the switch on that internal monologue to “off” this week, because even though I’ve built two side panels for the recycling cabinet and come up with a dozen ideas for my DIY wine rack, I can’t seem to compose a coherent post about them.

Do you have have weeks where you feel like you’ve lost your words? It just took me a good 45 seconds to remember the word “coherent” for the above sentence.

Seriously, I’m just going to post pictures of the cabinet panels later without words and you can just make up your own dialogue.

I can’t figure out quite what it is, but I think I may have a little bit of the post-sickness pre-springtime winter blues. And to help myself combat that, today I’ll give you links to some of my all-time favorite spring/summer time posts, such as:

The weekend the huge backyard renovation began in June of 2006. See pictures of me with my buzzed hair (I have no fear when it comes to looking like a 12 year old boy) or my Mom wielding her hatchet, and both of us in general rocking the world of fence-installation.

The day in September of 2006 that started with smashed fingers and ended with the badass pergola/patio actually looking like I pictured it would one day. And all on a three margarita hangover.

Or if your in the mood for something a little more philosophical, you can time-travel back to last July, when I was rudely awakened to the fact that I’m on the fast-track to spinsterhood. (And what I have to say about that.)

Then of course one of my favorite things about blogging, which is that you may wright some funny innocuous post back in, say, September of 2005, about this kind of shy-but-funny guy you know (and the things he says about your house, brooms, and black cats) and two and a half years later you find yourself doing the laundry of said guy on a fairly frequent basis. No shit. It’s MysteryMan before he was “MysteryMan” and me working on the first crookedbroom ever made.

Enjoy!

P.S. Oh, and for the record, you couldn’t possibly imagine how many people are directed through to this site because the googled the words “freakishly long toes.” I kid you not, I get at least one a day. Fortunately, they will not be disappointed since my disproportionally long second toe is on display here. Which, people, I love you, but some of you are so weird.

LOL! That is an odd search for sure!

Yeah, I have that happen sometimes… I think we all go through it once in awhile. Especially if you have winter blues! We finally have some sunshine here, even though it is freezing cold, the sun just helps so much. It gives me hope for spring!

I am in the middle of one of those writing/working on the house doldroms right now. I just can’t get motivated. I have been socially busy these past two weeks, but that’s no excuse. I’ve been spending more time commenting on other people’s blogs, so that’s at least in the right direction. What I need is some warmer weather, a little less snow on the ground, and the ability to open the windows in my house to blow out some of the winter depression that has seeped in.
Here’s hoping we can have a resurgence in posting together once springtime has arrived for real.

Love the haircut! I have it most of the time (except for the times that I am too lazy to cut it for a month or two).

My mother told me I look like a 16 year old boy.

People google the strangest things. I love watching the sitemeter for what leads people to my site (and particularly to see how they phrase a search question). One of the most recent ones I saw was: “What color should I paint my dining room?”

I love it when people ask google complete questions… hopefully that person wanted the answer “brown” because that’s the color of my dining room, and that’s what they landed on.

In any event, I can totally relate to both your “writing posts in your head” comment and also ending up with writers block. I feel compelled to write about *something* so that people will continue to come back to the site… but then sometimes, I’m just at a loss. One wonders why I care whether people come back… but I do.
