Suprise! (followed by Contest!)

MysteryMan brought this box down and dumped it on my workbench last night while I was seeing how much sawdust from a broomstick I could inhale up my nose. (I know about dust masks, okay? But if I wear one with my safety glasses – a really good look for me, by the way- the glasses fog up, and then I’m more likely to do serious damage to my person with the dremmel.)

I was well and truly puzzled. I have some serious budget restrictions going on right now, and I was sure I hadn’t ordered anything onl…. oh, wait a minute

Well, look at that, someone sent me packing peanuts!

Okay, okay, not packing peanuts, but inside there was a cord and yet another box…

Containing….

A SALT LAMP! Thanks Aimee!

And I just want to point out, that not only does it cast a nice, warm, homely glow about my desk…

… it also could be used as a weapon of mass destruction. It’s like five pounds of solid rock. As a woman who lives alone (in thoery) I am well armed when I sleep. And now, also while I work! From here on out I’m referring to this as the salt-lamp-slash-skull-cracker. You know, because it’s always good to have a plan, just in case…

So, now I feel compelled to pass on my good fortune.

We’re going to call this the “Name Your Favorite Powertool” Contest.

Just comment telling me your favorite tool (and why, if you’re feeling chatty). The winner will be determined by a random number generator (I don’t want to be biased), but I still want to know what tools you love best.

The prize?

You get to pick, either your very own “I heart power tools” T-shirt…

(They come in multiple sizes and colors, which you can check out at my cafepress store, here. I wear mine all the time, and in fact, it almost caused beer to shoot out of my friend E’s nose when she finally read it last night.)

OR

A $15 gift certificate to Home Depot, where you can buy the latest accessories (or whatever you want) for that favorite tool.

The contest closes at midnight on Sunday March 23rd… winner to be announced first thing Monday morning. (It’s good to have something to look forward to on Mondays.)

Only one entry per person, please!

Great shirt. I’d have to say my fav power tool would be this little air die grinder that I have. It spins at 60,000 rpm and is the size of a thick ink pen. So little but yet so powerful.

Only drawback is that it sounds exactly like a dentist drill. Every once in awhile it sends shivers down my spine. LOL

Not feeling chatty right now. It just rocks.

my fav power tool at the moment is our new ginormous air compressor. putting that hose up someone’s pants guarantees a laugh every time!

My fave tool is my router with the edge forming bit. It helped me make some pretty nice cap rail for our wainscotting. But then I found out that thing turns at 10,000rpm…and now I’m a bit afraid of it.

Mine is my Makita LXT Cordless Impact driver. Used it every day last week for various things (helping with Katrina rebuilding, yes, its still going on). Every tool junkie I know who has used mine wants one of their own.
