Weight Loss Challenge: Week 5
May 27th, 2008 by kitliz
Previous Weight: 122
Current Weight: 124
Goal Weight: 115
Um…That’s weird.
Hey, shouldn’t those numbers be moving the other way? Even weirder is that on Friday the scale read 120 pounds. So it’s not even that I gained 2 lbs in a week, it’s that I gained 4 in 4 days.
And I have to be honest and say, it’s not even that weird. In my usual life (up until the scale peaked and held steady at 131 for about a year) the scale was all over the place all of the time, or at least would fluctuate between 121-124 within three or four days. I have always imagined this had to do with the faulty thyroid, and figured sometimes my metabolism is on speed, and sometimes it drags ass. So I was shocked when I started a slow and steady weight loss, and I wondered if it wouldn’t get a little wonky around 120 where I believe my body is in equilibrium.
Also, the fact that I can’t sleep and feel like I’m walking around in a dream for most of the day probably accounts for some of the wonky-ness.
Hey, such is life. I’m just going to keep doing my thing and see how my body feels about it. And if I could please god just get 8 straight without drugging myself, I’m hoping to step up the exercise this week.
Tune back in next week to see if I weigh 130 or 120… dun, dun, DUN.

I’m up a lb this week. Ugh. Too much holiday food.
Just have to get back up and start again. YOu can do this!!! But get some sleep….
ain’t nuthin’ worse than losing sleep. i hear it causes bloat (i’m trying here)….
I hope you’ll someday take time to read Martha Beck’s FOUR DAY WIN, the best book I’ve ever read about weight loss. You may be putting yourself in “famine brain,” which slows metabolism and makes one tired, cranky and irritated.
Don’t get discouraged about slight gains when you’re trying to lose weight, as long as you’re still following your plan it WILL come off.
Also, make sure you weigh yourself at the same time of day (usually right after you wake up) as your weight can fluctuate by a few pounds throughout the day. It can also fluctuate significantly around your period as your body tends to retain water.
Keep up the good work!
