The DIY Network and I want to give you something so that this…
… never happens to you again.
Here’s the deal. In honor of the Cool Tools holiday blitz (Runs 11/27to 11/30 on the DIY Network– and an excellent source of inspiration for Christmas presents by the way. Ahem.) the DIY Network is letting me give away some their Cool Tools to DIYdiva readers.
Specifically (and I never thought I would say this) a seriously badass tape measure. I know, you squinched your eyes up when I said that. Badass tape measure? MysteryMan and I go through about 3 tape measures per year and it never occured to me that there might be a better option than the old 25′ Stanley we keep buying over and over again. And then the DIY Network, bless their little tool-loving hearts, sent me this.
Any my heart went pitty-pat. You know why?
100% Stainless steel.
The ability to grip with both sizes of the tape.
And double sided numbers.
Why the hell didn’t I know tape measures like this existed before?
And speaking of things I didn’t know existed before…the Jack Pack? Um. Need.
I am going to be totally banned from watching this show because of all of the things I will have to buy Right. This. Minute.
Anyway, back to what you care about, which is how you can complete your life by getting one of these tape measures. It’s easy… Just leave me a comment with the number of times you stop by per week to see if I have succeeded in unintentionally removing one of my fingers with my cordless drill yet.
Winners picked Sunday.
You can enter more than once, but every new comment you leave has to be funnier than the last one or I’m not counting it. I’m going to be caulking seams on that roof for 10 hours this weekend, so I’ll need a good laugh.
Now go forth, comment, and cross your fingers, my DIY comrades.

Ooh, ooh, ooh…PICK ME!!! PLEASE!!!
Oh yeah….I visit your blog, along with a few others, just about every day. So, I check it, on average, once a day. I figured that it would be a toe to go first, not your finger, with how many times you are barefoot in your pics.
I’ve been a long time reader, but I don’t think I’ve ever left a comment. I check out the blog every time you post, just to make sure there isn’t some extra BareFoot-Makita-Wielding-Masonry-Conquering-content that was left out of the feed. Seriously, even if I don’t win, you should know that you, and your blog, are awesome.
I check daily as well, but have never commented. I don’t check to see if you lost any appendages, I check to see what awesome projects you have going, and how they’re progressing. I love that tape measure!!
I check it at LEAST once a day. Yeah, I’m a stalker…..
The wonders of modern technology (RSS feeds) allow me to visit once per post. And amazingly, you haven’t lost and digits — that you’re willing to admit to, anyway.
Although, it would make for some entertaining reading!
First time actually stopping by your site (at least first that I can remember) but I’ve been reading your RSS feed in Google Reader for quite some time now.
Never to check on the fingers, but more to be inspired… You should be proud – I handled a drill for the first time every on Halloween… How else was I going to get all those holes in my pumpkin? What a ton of fun! I thought of you, all the time J stood around shaking his head.
RSS feeds rule, manually checking websites drool! er…drools. So I check it when there’s a new post, how ever often that is. Unless I’m busy reading a post on treehugger or boing-boing.
And it probably won’t help my chances of getting picked, but I noticed that you’ve spelled it ‘weilding’ instead of ‘wielding’ in the lovely banner graphic at the top. Remember: it’s:
i before e, except after c, or when sounded as ‘a’, as in neighbor or weigh. Or when it’s weird.
I believe ‘badass’ is correctly spelled, even if Firefox’s spell checker doesn’t like it. Hmm…it seems happier it there’s a hyphen. Apparently its spell-checker is anal-retentive.
You guys are cracking me up. I love that everyone is de-lurking.
And Gene, seriously, how has no one pointed out to me in the 2 years that banner has been up there that “wielding” is spelled wrong?? (Like my mother who is a teacher!) It’s about time for a new banner anyway… that one with the horrible photo-shopping was only supposed to be temporary. Despite what the dictionary says though, I think badass should always be one word!
And just so everyone knows…. I’m going to use the randomizer to pick winners, so don’t feel like you have to be nice if you don’t want to!
Maybe people thought you’re too badass (I agree that’s how it should be spelt (Firefox doesn’t like spelt, either, preferring spelled) regardless of the dictionary) and were afraid you’d go all demo mode on them with a sledge hammer
I hadn’t noticed before, in part because I don’t see the banner when viewing the blog entries in Google Reader. That’s my defense and I’m sticking to it!
On the subject of RSS feeds, the feed for diydiva.net shows up as (title unknown). I haven’t worked with WordPress (yet) to know what needs to be changed to fix that, though.
I usually stop by daily, but since for some reason since adding you to my updated blogroll on my page your name nor your updates show up. Not sure how I fix this though….
said in my texas accent (with my pronunciation in paras):
“I’m (eye’m) going (gonna) to be caulking(cocking)seams on that roof for (fer) 10 hours this weekend, so I’ll need a good laugh.”
um, yeah, that made ME laugh.
(pick me!)
wait! i have anouther, even funnier one:
caulking a seam is hard work.
please consider it my british accent that made me write “anouther.”
I read you through a feed reader, so I only click through to comment, but I audibly gasped when I saw double sided numbers.
