First off, this woman makes me laugh.
This is my mother. Did I ever tell you about the time we were installing a fence in my back yard and one day she came over to “help” after accidentally taking two Tylenol PM’s instead of her vitamins in the morning? Yeah. One of us spent a lot of time that day lounging on the sand pile while the other of us spent a lot of time with our head stuck down a three foot hole removing roots with a hacksaw.
So. My mom really is a very smart woman, but– mom, I love you dearly– she’s not exactly an early adopter for newfangled technologies such as computers. And cell phones.
But somehow, without any assistance from me, my mom discovered facebook several weeks ago which propelled her into the age of social networking and web 2.0 so fast you would think she was shot out of a cannon. And while she managed to sniff out a stagnant facebook account I log into once every 8 months, become my friend, and write on my wall, I would just like to mention that in the 5 years I have been blogging she has never once managed to leave a comment on any of my websites.
This is only funny because just the other day I received an email from her while I was at work that said:
Kit, read your website. The thing about the country book made me laugh. Love the pictures you took in the woods!
Mom. This is not an email. This is a comment.I was giving you leeway before because I didn’t think you understood the concept of commenting but now that you are writing on peoples facebook walls with regularity this is no longer acceptable!

Everyone, please welcome my mother into the Technology Age.
I’ve now got her signed up on flickr, and next thing you know, I’m gonna have her blogging!

My father is guilty of the same thing.
Only, he likes to comment in person about something he read (that I wrote) weeks ago.

Hello Kit’s mom!
I am actually very jealous, I have been trying to get my mom to purchase a computer – she won’t embrace the PC world.
The next thing your mom will find is “MySpace”.
