Mark from Rehab or Die had a brilliant idea in his comment here the other day…
Will you be doing any canning this year? We’re half a step ahead of you on the plantings, but no raised beds, as yet. Mrs. OrDie has filled our back yard, virtually to the brim and it occurs to me that we are going to be up to our eyeballs in tomatoes and peppers (etc., etc.). So, I’m shooting for a couple cases of salsa.
Wanna compete? (no losers as far as I can tell).
Let me just say this sir… hell yeah!
Any other folks out there with a garden (or just a burning desire to make salsa) want to play?
I propose a salsa trade from all participants, because like Mark says… how can you lose?
Post a comment and/or blog entry and trackback here if you want in.

Mmm… yummy. But I don’t know how to can! We always make fridge/freezer salsa. That’s not going to travel well!
Well, now. It’s on. We probably ought to come up with parameters. At least a requirement that all tomatoes and peppers have to be local?
Also, competitors ought to know how to can before they send off jars full of garden goodness! :O
Have you got my email?
We have pit that will eventually become a garden. Sara has been trying to grow things and seedlings have appeared. Not sure we can up it to salsa production grade levels to compete but sure would be fun.
John and Sara.
