These cooler nights are slowing our tomato crop down quite a bit. They’re coming but… Peppers are on a tear. How about with you? We’ll have to decide when we want to have the official competition and if we want to agree on one particular style or just try to wow each other into submission.
We’re just hitting tomato season, and this one was an early bloomer. I would say in 3 weeks I’m going to have more tomatoes than I know what to do with though. Which means, OF COURSE the salsa-off is still on. My peppers and corn are getting there as well, but I’ve got to tell you all my country neighbors gardens are kicking my ass.
I don’t know that we should limit our salsa creativity, but I’ll play by your rules if you like!
I’m just throwing ideas out there. I’ve really only one request and that we avoid any beans due to Mrs. OrDie’s allergy.
I suppose that we’ll want to limit our ingredients to 80% or 90% out of the garden or grown within 50 miles of home. You may want to be much more stringent. I just realized that I didn’t plant garlic and cilantro is not exactly a warm weather crop. Of course, if we made the geographical limit too large it might include each other’s gardens! We’ve got a month to think on it. I’m just looking forward those magical tastes of summer.
