I’m thinking about making this a Wednesday staple at DIYdiva. (Clearly it’s not Wednesday today, but I took a couple of days off work last week and so my internal calendar is off. It just feels like a Wednesday kind of post. So sue me.) I’m constantly trolling the internet for resources to help me with my projects, or even better, give me ideas for new projects. Because having 1000 unfinished projects in my life? Not nearly distracting enough.
Here are some things you might not know about, but probably should:

Here’s what it does do (for the iPhone junkies out there…). I.D. Wood puts a reference guide on your iPhone. In their words: “I.D. Wood allows a user to quickly browse by Wood Samples, Species Names or Other Names to aide in quick identification.”
Project Calculators
Building Cost Calculator from Building-cost.net. This is the most comprehensive Building Cost calculator I’ve found for new construction (can also be used for additions.) My favorite feature is that it breaks everything down by material and labor cost, so I can feel all warm and fuzzy about how much money I’m saving by doing it myself.
Easy Project Calculators from Remodel Estimates are also good, if you’re just looking for a quick and easy estimate. You can pick by project type, or by room being remodled.
Idea Galleries
Calfinder Idea Gallery. Great first place to start when trying to pick out a style or material for a particular room. Way better that googleing “bathroom floors” and crossing your fingers.
Also, if you’re looking specifically for pictures of house exteriors. I’ve spent a lot of time putting together my own “gallery” on flickr (primarialy by driving around and taking pictures of houses I like), which you can check out here, if you’re looking for ideas: House Inspiration Flickr Set
