A Donkey Shed in a Cloud

I’m still plugging away at taping drywall corners in the bathroom. Yes, it’s traumatizing, and no, I don’t want to talk about it. Particularly that part where I was using a cheap plastic spackling knife on the ceiling and the handle broke causing it to fall with a splat right onto my face. Related Note: Joint compound tastes like glue.

Moving on.

We had the usual mix of whatthehellisthis Michigan weather this weekend, including several hours of living in a cloud Sunday morning.

Despite the nastiness outside, I jumped at the chance to stop plastering and put on my muck boots to help turn this…

For those of you who have no idea what in the heck you’re looking at, Sara guessed it right. That’s the beginnings of our donkey shed.

I drew a very detailed schematic to help you get there…

We’re T-minus 20 days until the Hauling Ass Tour of 2010. Supposedly not only will the donkey shed be finished by then, but the entire addition will be framed as well. So it’s going to be an exciting (or disastrous) couple of weeks.

  1. Best of luck with the shed – and the house…

    I lived in that fog this past weekend too… dreary stuff – solar energy d e c r e a s i n g . . .

  2. Wow! You are going like gangbusters. I am so impressed at how much you have gotten done already. In our house we move like snails… sleepy snails. Can’t wait to see the donkeys in their new digs. 🙂

  3. Good luck in the upcoming weeks. I’m sure it will be packed with some interesting adventures, as home improvement always is. That cloud (while a bit dreary) sure does make for some beautiful photos!

  4. you have quite a few busy weeks coming up. I’d be forced to hire a couple contractors to help out to get it all done by then. Last Christmas we had this “self-imposed timetable” as well that we wanted everything done by Christmas. We were forced to go to eContractorBids.com to grab a guy quick to get the job done. Eh well…it all worked out in the end. I’m hoping you have better luck with yours!
