Nook.

It’s been a while since I last posted. That lull I was talking about ended with a vengeance, and I haven’t had much time for anything besides work, house, and sleep. The good news is, I got the nook done.

Here’s the evolution.

nook before

This is what it looked like when I moved in. Minus the hanging plants. All of the trim on the bottom floor was painted that hideous skin-beige color. Nice. Did you even know that blinds came in flourescent orange? No?

Some scraping, sanding, painting, plastering, a new floor, and 11 months later…

Nook Finished

From this picture you can’t see the texture on the walls (it’s hard to capture on film, with the glare) but it’s thick and you can see all the swipe marks, which I absolutely love.

Here’s a close-up of the window sills. (The copper and black crackle I was talking about…)

And the stained glass.

Stained Glass lamp

A rare find at a garage sale, if you can believe that.

I’m going to spend the week cooking in my newly (almost) finished kitchen, and admiring that beautiful lamp.

  1. OMG AHAHAAHA it’s the picture of your kitchen cart you used in the much more recent post where you made one for your chef BF! I really enjoy that this randomly angled snapshot taken to showcase your (lovely) new kitchen nook was re-purposed to “showcase” something completely different and originally innocuous.
