This is the best Friday of the year so far because it started with a trip to the lumber yard. Twenty-six fence posts, fifteen bags of concreten, and ten pounds of deck screws later, it was time for the real fun to start.
As always, I’ve jumped into this project after extensive preparation and planning…
Ahem.
So maybe we’re kind of winging it as we go.
My jobs today include: repairing sections of salvaged fence, making executive decisions about which pieces go where, and making smartass remarks to the crew. There’s nothing in the world more entertaining to me than jobsite banter.
I mean… except chickens.
At the last minute (exactly 8:29 this morning, just before leaving the lumber aisle) I decided to swap out a few regular sized fence posts for taller ones to go around the gate, with the intention of building an arbor over them…
So, add that to the list for the weekend. Next up: renting a sod cutter and finishing the walkways between boxes…
Hope you guys have just as much fun and sawdust this weekend.

Oh that fence! So cute! Can’t wait to see how it looks when it’s done. You amaze me!
Can’t wait to see the finished product. I thought of your blog this morning as I was “rescuing” a bird that made its way into my dryer vent ducting. He’s safety outside now, but I have to put on my big girl pants and go on the roof to see how he got in there in the first place. Happy Friday!
I love it so much already!
Spur-of-the-moment changes in plans are the BEST!
I want to know what you used to bribe all the help 🙂 Building a fence isn’t something a lot of people would just volunteer for
Oh, I paid them. They install fences for a job.
