Before & After

Because a person can only look at so many pictures of me mid-project and covered in head to toe dirt…
Living Room
The transformation of the livingroom was achieved by tearing out everything in the room that wasn’t necessary for the structural support of the house. Carpet, shutters, odd plug-in florescent light fixture, all gone. I love the look of slate tile, and bought this for $1.29/ sq ft on clearance at Home Depot. The walls were the result of a lot of quality time spent with a gallon of paint and a 4″ brush.
Kitchen
One set of frozen pipes, resulting waterfall from upstairs bath through the kitchen to the basement, and three months of living hell later, the kitchen was reborn with all new cabinetry, 2″ blue tile countertops (less than $200 for all counters and backsplashes), and a new wood floor. All the work it took to get me from “before” to “after” can be found in these posts.
Breakfast Nook
Basement Utility Area
Home of all powertools that aren’t currently in the garage.
Consider this an “in progress” picture, since I have big plans to put vinyl stick-tiles, a drop ceiling, and some flourescent lights in sometime before summer.
Backyard
(There are plenty more to put up here– as soon as they’re all organized– check back soon.)

You have totally inspired me to get back to work on my house. Thanks for the great blog, I’m glad I found it. I have lots of catch-up reading to do
Impressive! I’ll be keeping an eye on your blog from now on. My place needs a lot of work, and I can use all the advice from people who have actually done this stuff before.
[...] Lately I’ve been enjoying the ramblings of Ohio blogger DIY Diva, a self-described “power tool wielding badass” in Ohio. When she’s not shredding legal documents or dreaming of owning a mini-lathe, this ripped jeans–wearing woman is busy remodeling her 80-year-old house. [...]
I really like your gumption and the blog is a pleasure. We’ve added you to our blogroll at RehabOrDie as one of our favorite reno blogs. We’ll be making a more in depth comment probably tonight.
Best,
Mark
